14 Consecutive Days of Work

That's right, today starts my marathon of work starts today.... I got 14 straight days of work, a nice sandwich if you will... 3 photog days for the top part of the bun, 9 days of weather for the meat and fixin's on the sandwich, then finishing off with 2 days as a photog for the bottom bun.... As we all know the meat and fixin's are the best part of a sandwich anyways, and same goes here, I LOVE doing the weather and the photog days will just be a little added flavoring to the sandwich and something to hold on too.... haha.... Oh I crack myself up....

So I mentioned the moped I was working on, I finally got it fired up today.... it has been many long and patient months, but it is such a great feeling taking a broken machine and getting the proper parts, which were numerous, and finally get it running again...  The main reason I wanted to finally get it put back together is the beautiful weather we are having....

Still looking at a lot of sunshine the next week with a weak disturbance late Saturday night with a tenth of an inch of rain, meaning a light shower or sprinkle.  Unseasonably warm for the next few days.  Our normal high for today is 57, I am writing this at 10:49 AM and the weather station outside here at home is reading 65.4, so we should EASILY hit 70 today if not warmer.  Maybe 80 tomorrow and Friday..... we will get close if not actually reach that mark.  Well I got to finish a load of laundry, load the dishwasher and head into work....  I guess you guys will be seeing a lot of me in the coming days, so have a good one (for me at least).... haha

B-E-A-U-tiful!!!

Man was it nice out there today, and the next few days only look to get better.  I took about 10 hours today and rebuilt one of my mopeds as you can see in the link.  I do need a few minor adjustments to it, but the motor and everything is all re-assembled and ready for action.

It looks like temperatures will continue to rise and and remain dry for the about the next week with the exception for a week disturbance late Saturday.... will have to keep an eye on that especially with it being Easter Sunday.... other than that, beautiful weather continuing and maybe pushing 80.... we will have to wait and see... Have a good one!

No Snow Tonight

Don't count on tennis sized snowflakes again tonight, as a matter of fact, no snow at all, the system has been slowing down so the cooler air will not be arriving in time to change over the backside of this system over to snow.  A few scattered showers this afternoon and evening are likely, but then sunshine building in for the second half of Monday and sticking around for the entire week and next weekend.  It appears that temperatures will reach the warmest they have so far this year topping out in the mid 70's by next weekend.  Hopefully you got your sunscreen ready, haha, have a good one!

Big Warm-up On The Way, But Snow First?

We got what most Miami Valley citizens would hope to be the last blast of winter weather last night and this morning with snow causing icy conditions this morning for much of the area.  We are looking to really warm things up by later next week heading into the start of April, but before that, we could see more snow.  Sunday will be pretty wet with a lot of rain, but Sunday night temperatures look to get cold again and snow cannot ruled out. It appears that temperatures look to stay slightly warmer than what we say last night, but as temperatures fall near that freezing mark, more snow could be a possibility.

The models are only hinting at a dusting of snow, at best, as of right now, but I will be in the weather center this weekend keeping an eye on things, so keep checking back for updates on how things look to progress.  Have a good one, and enjoy a beautiful Saturday!

Update on tonights snow

Despite spring arriving, colder arctic air is plowing in and snow is already starting to fall in Sidney.  The flakes are pretty large and it the grass and mulch will see the first of the whitening...  If the snow continues to fall fast enough, it could form a "protective layer" on pavement to allow a light accumulation.... keep that in mind as you hit the roads, could see a few slick spots overnight Thursday into Friday morning..... Enjoy it while it lasts, should be the last of the year, next week looks much warmer....  I attached a few photos of the falling snow here in Sidney.  I will probably post a few more pictures of the snow later tonight, but until then time to return to Star Wars... since today is my "Sunday."  Have a good one!

UPDATE: I attached a few more photos....We got over an inch on the grass. Buckeye just got his winter fur cut off, and is NOT liking the snow...  Pavement has a little snow for now, but if it continues to stick and accumulate, expect it to start melting on the warm surface and turn to a sheet of ice as temperatures fall... Use caution on the roads.

Keeping an eye out for the snow.

That's right.  Don't expect a winter wonderland, but it definitely looks like the chances for snow tonight are pretty good.  The ground is pretty warm so accumulation will not be a problem, most of the snow will melt pretty quickly, but if you poke your head out the window between around midnight to 3 AM, there is a chance you might see some snow falling.  The later into the night the better chances it will be snow as it gets colder, so if you poke your head out the window make sure it is below freezing.  Chilly but sunny for Friday, and warming up on Saturday close to 60, but another cold front pushes through on Sunday making things wet and cold to start the workweek on Monday, and then temps climbing through the middle of the week.

Well it is still sunny and getting close to 60 here in Sidney, 10AM, so I got no excuse to head out for a run around the neighborhood before the rain arrives.  Have a good one!

Severe Weather Awareness Week

Just in case you were wondering, this morning at 9:50 the state tested its tornado sirens because this is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Ohio.  The best thing you can do to protect yourself against storms and prepare for them is buying a NOAA Weather Radio.  They are fairly inexpensive and if they could save your life, then they are well worth it.  Tornado sirens may be nice if you live a block away from them, or if you are outside, but they are still very hard to hear indoors.

It looks like more rain will move in for later Thursday and last overnight with a slight chance for a flake or two of snow, but then dry out for the rest of Friday.  Dry out for the start of the weekend, and more rain later Sunday into early Monday.  Basically just getting in the pattern for a while.... Taking a look out farther, it looks like we will into the 70's heading into the first few days of April.... and no I am not "fooling" either.  Have a good one and enjoy today before the clouds roll in!

Taking It For Granted

It is funny how when we are healthy and feeling 100% how we often forget about how lucky we are to be in that situation.  We go about our lives without a care in the world, although when are sick that isn't the case.  I don't know if anyone else is with me, but when I get sick or feel a little "under the weather" I often think about how when I was healthy a few days ago, I didn't think twice that it could be different.  With temperatures finally warming up and allergy season pounding on the door, I know a lot of people will soon wish we had a 18" of snow on the ground.  So before you feel like your head is in a vice, and your eyes feel like a bucket of sand has been poured into them(those are my normal reactions to spring), enjoy your health and don't take it for granted, just a thought....

Cloudy, cool, and rainy for Monday. Sunshine returning for the later part of Tuesday and sticking around for Wednesday.  Thursday another system looks to pass to our south and stay for part of Friday, a brief break on Saturday, before another system for the end of next weekend.

At least with the rain, hopefully it will keep the tree pollen down....  Have a good one!!

Not looking good for snow.

Sorry for all of you who were getting the forecast from Farmers Almanac....

The cold front is taking its good ole time, which means it wont punch through as cold as first indicated and appears that we will be seeing only rain.  Light sprinkles or an isolated shower possible Sunday morning, but it looks like we will be seeing a better shot of rain come through Sunday night and Monday.  Not to mention cooler temps for Monday and Tuesday, so grab the jackets.  Typical spring Ohio weather after that,  we will get the couple of cool rainy days, followed by a few warm ones, then back to cool and rainy.  Have a good one!

Filling in For Booth Today

He is a little under the weather, so you get to see your's truly giving the forecast tonight.  Saturday morning looks to be warm and nice, but a few light sprinkles are possible later Saturday.  A better chance for rain showers on Sunday and into Monday.  Temperatures will drop throughout the day on Monday, so the morning will be "mild" but by the evening and into Tuesday morning it will pretty chilly and you will need that winter coat.  Could we see a few flakes of snow????  Well don't count on seeing a winter wonderland, but overnight we could see a few flakes Monday night while most of us are sleeping.  We try to warm up again next week before another system rolls through later in the week and we cool off again.... Time for the 6 o'clock news, have a good one!

Hello from the "Land of Rubber"

Well it's time to get new wheels on my truck, treading was wearing thin and tires starting to show signs of dry rot. So I am coughing up money I wish I wouldn't have to. I did get a good deal on them in Greenville at a place my father always goes and does a good job at a great price, it just smells strongly of rubber.  It is a weird smell you only get occasionally.  Haha.

The next system is slowing down a bit and not looking quite as cold. We may still be able to see a few snowflakes but nothing looks to accumulate. We could see rain late Sunday but will pick up overnight into Monday. A few wet flakes may mix in Monday morning, but will mostly be rain.   I don't know about you, but this weather we are having today, sunny and 60, sounds much better than more rain and possibly snow.   I will be back on with updates.

How about Snow?

So it appears that we will see that chance for snow in the coming days, but not for a while.  We will see warm and sunny weather for the rest of the workweek, but more clouds for the weekend, and a chance for rain on Sunday.  If the temperatures drop as they are forecasted, we could see snow showers on the backside of the system later Sunday evening and into Monday morning.  The good news is that they system will be short-lived and right now it appears we will still remain above freezing in the afternoons next week so the snow will not be sticking around, if it accumulates at all.....the ground has warmed up considerably and thus a lot of the snow will melt once it reaches the earth.  We will have to wait until it gets closer to determine how much snow would actually accumulate, and if it does, how much it would..... but either way if it would stick, right now it is looking fairly light.  I will keep everyone posted, until then have a good one!

Wet Weather Leaving, Sunshine Returning

Well after a very soggy and wet weekend, the clouds will finally give way to high pressure and sunshine.  The rivers across the Miami Valley have been close to the flood stage, but luckily they have stayed just shy of actually reaching it.  Hopefully with dry, sunny conditions this week will allow the ground recover.  It has been so over-saturated and most of the rain has been running off and downstream, but four solid days of sunshine and all the snow already melted, we should see the ground dry out nicely.

I hope to enjoy the nice weather, but I do have some a lot of obligations in the coming days... gotta work Monday because my schedule got changed a bit, and Tuesday I am getting new tires on my truck(not looking forward to forking over that money), stopping by my parents place in Darke Co, and then a guest on a talk show that night.  Then finally on Wednesday hopefully I will be able to enjoy the sunshine and then returning to work on Thursday, but hopefully getting enough free time and approval to head up to Shelby County Spotter Training on Thursday night.

Still gotta keep an eye on the system next weekend, we could be seeing snow on the tail end of the system later Sunday into next Monday. I will be updating the blog as we get closer to next weekend, until then have a good one!

Soggy Saturday Ahead and Golf Talk

Well it is late Friday night and I finally got to see lightning.... first bolts of 2010.  Most of the rain has lifted northward, but it looks like it will slowly shift back south and remain a pretty rainy Saturday and we have already seen plenty of rain.  We have seen so much actually that the earthworms have been flooded out of their holes and are now everywhere on the roads and sidewalks.  Had to watch where I was walking when I got home and took Buckeye outside for a short walk.  To bad not many fish are biting just yet, I would be out there with a bucket of dirt and collecting all of them, but instead I will be passing that opportunity.  Anyways, Saturday looks to be a washout for most of the day, then maybe a few light sprinkles Sunday and then sunshine trying to come back late Monday and for the majority of next week, before our next system arrives, possibly bringing snow.

On a side-note and related to spring, I have been debating very hard the last few months on my plans for golfing this spring and summer.  I have debated getting a membership here locally in Sidney, but it would cost about 600 at least.  Additionally, if I wanted to meet up with my friends and play, more than likely, they wouldn't want to come to "my" course every time since many of them live over 30 minutes away.  So I have decided against getting a membership and will just have to fork over the money when I want to go golfing instead of getting unlimited time on the links.  If anyone knows of any decent courses that are less than 600 let me know!  Seriously.

Have a good one!

How about a side of Thunder?

Looks like we could see, or rather hear, our first rumbles of thunder tonight, or Friday night, not  lot but a few rumbles shouldn't be out of the question.... It will be refreshing to know that "severe" season will begin.  In Ohio you can never let your guard down.  Here is the Buck-cast: we should see showers tonight and then a dry spell for parts of Friday morning and afternoon, then more showers and storms Friday night into Saturday morning.  Then temperatures will be on the cooler side with highs in the 40's or low 50's.  A few light showers for Sunday, and then finally this nasty low pressure system, that has been giving us so much dreary weather, will move out to the east coast and we will get a break of dry, sunny weather for parts of next week.

With that being said, winter is never over here in Ohio as we all know, and we are still watching for a chance of snow in a week and a half.  Right now the timing looks to arrive on Sunday, the 21st, and accumulations do not look crippling, but it does look like a shovel-able amount right now... We just need to keep an eye on the track of the system to make sure things don't drastically change.  Hopefully you have been enjoying the warm temps and the dry spells we have seen lately.

Enjoying the Beautiful Weather

Well, it has been a few days since I checked into Buck's Blog.  I have been outside enjoying the gorgeous weather cleaning the garage and building work benches for some people.  Also opened all the windows in the house to let the fresh air finally back in and get the stuffy air that has been in here out.  It is amazing how much fresher everything seems inside once you open the windows a few hours.  Even going to bed last night, the sheets and blankets just smelt so fresh.  I hope everyone took advantage of it, like I did, while it was here because rain is on the way and should be arriving sometime this evening, Tuesday evening.

Warm temperatures look to remain warm for quite a while, but rain will be scattered for the next couple of days, it appears that the majority of the "moderate" rain will be late afternoon of Thursday and Friday and just scattered showers anywhere else.  I will say this, it is NOT going to be a washout the rest of the week, but overall, it will be a little gloomy.  At least it will be warm.   Still keeping our eyes peeled for the chances of more snow in two weeks.... will we stay warm enough or will old man winter have one final punch of winter?!?!  Models are showing snow possible, but it is still a LONG way out to pull the trigger just yet...  In the mean time enjoy the warm temperatures and have a good one!

Warmer, Wetter Weather on the Way

Today was gorgeous outside!!  I went on a walk with Dawn and Buckeye today and it looks like it is only going to be getting warmer through the next seven days.  We do stand to see a few light showers late Sunday evening, but should be out of the area by Monday morning.  More rain looks to return Tuesday PM and then remain as on and off showers for the rest of the workweek.  At least it will be fairly warm and at night we will be staying above freezing starting Sunday night for quite a while.  This will help melt any remaining snow, but don't worry, winter isn't over yet.... for those of you who read the farmers almanac, you may know what I am talking about because models and the farmers almanac are hinting at a chance for snow the week of the 22nd.  We will have to see if things hold together as we get closer, until then enjoy the warm temperatures.  Have a good one!

What a Beautiful Day!!

I had to work the graveyard shift from midnight until 9AM, so I had to sleep most of the beautiful day away, but MAN!!!  Was it nice out there!?!?!  And things are only going to be getting better!!  More sun for the next three days and out of the next week, we should be in the 40's and better, meaning no more highs in the 30's.....well for now at least...  Still looking at a small disturbance late Sunday into Monday, but it has been weakening on recent models.

Still keeping our eyes on the chances for cooler temperatures and the chance of snow in the far, far long term, but will just have to wait and see how things pan out, it is still the first week of March and as we all know Old Man Winter always likes to make a return uninvited.  As for now and for a while, it should be beautiful.  Enjoy the next few days and have a good one!

Broke out my bike

I figured it was 36 degrees, and that is warm enough for a bike ride right?  It was a bit chilly, but after having gone to the chiropractor to get my lower back re-aligned, I figured I would take it easy before going out for a run.  I also removed the rest of the cinder blocks from my truck with the exception for four of them which are frozen solid together.  Hopefully tomorrow with the help of more sunshine they will come free.

Temperatures will keep getting warmer from here on out and the rain looks to hold off until Monday and Tuesday.   There will be a weak disturbance before then, but more than likely we will not start seeing any precip until late Sunday or Monday.   Will we break the 50 degree mark?  Well we may just give it a run for its money and be pretty darn close.  As soon as all the snow melts we will really see the temperatures rise.  The snow is acting like ice in a cooler, and keeping us slightly cooler than what we would be without it.  Anyways, at least the birds are chirping and I even got an email from a viewer saying the groundhogs have started coming out.... always a good sign that spring is right around the corner.

Also, just wanted to let everyone know that my readers on here have increased greatly for the month of Feb.  Thanks to everyone who reads and a special thanks to DarkeJournal.com in helping the people of Darke County(where I was raised) have a "local tie to the sky".... I like the ring of that...haha.  Have a good one!!

UPDATE-Just got our my four remaining blocks from the bed of my truck, they finally thawed out.... hopefully they do not need to be replaced until November, but we will have to wait and see I guess.

Andrew Buck Michael

Taking the weight out...

Hopefully for good...  So with winter weather is over for a while; I have started unloading the cinder blocks from the bed of my truck, who has put me through about 7000 miles of the worst winter weather here in Ohio.  I started taking the blocks out yesterday, but even after today, about 400 lbs of the blocks are still frozen solid.  They are the sole reason I did not get stuck in my truck this winter, I already took about 600+ lbs out, but still got the rest frozen, under a few inches of snow, in the back waiting to taken out.  Just give them a few days of sunshine, they will thaw out and be stacked away for the next big snow.

Looks like, after a cold day today, temperatures will only be going up for here over the next week.  I plan on taking my truck for a wash soon (I got salt still caked to the inside and underneath of it).  But we got a slight chance for rain on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, but temperatures will remain on the "cool" side for a while.  Nothing pushing 70 for a long while, although I wish it would.  I can't wait for a good thunderstorm.....

Best,
Andrew Buck Michael
