National Coffee Day & A Wet Tuesday

Happy National Coffee Day!
It was a wet overnight... and more rain coming.
A bit of a wet Tuesday.  Starting the morning wet with rain showers for all of Central Ohio.  More isolated storms and showers for the afternoon with a cold front.  Light winds and humid until the cold front passes.  Temperatures fall quickly tonight with scattered showers and windy conditions.  A few lingering showers early Wednesday and breezy & cooler all day.  A mix of sun and clouds through the rest of the week with temperatures cooler than normal.  Have a good one!

Busy weekend... cool week ahead

I start you off with a sunrise photo I took on Friday of Columbus.  Love the colors.
Not sure what this photo was about... but hey... Yea, I don't know.
Friday I helped cover the Columbus Oktoberfest.  I still have a blister in my mouth for eating a bratwurst too quickly on LIVE TV.  Oh well... hope it is healed soon.
Saturday we went up to Cleveland for Anderson's birthday party.  Summer took her Brutus with her.
We were blessed with some amazing tickets for the Browns game on Sunday so I went with Dawn, her brother, and her father.
Summer and grandma got to hang out.
Partly cloudy and warm to start the week.  An isolated shower is possible Monday, but a better chance of rain on Tuesday.  Cold front coming through Tuesday will bring rain followed by cooler temperatures for later this week.  Have a good one!

Summer's final summer visit to work

So I had a special guest with me between the morning show and noon show yesterday.  Marshall was sick so I had to work the full morning show and the Noon as well.  So I went home to pick up Summer and take her to a babysitter.  But we finished getting graphics ready for the Noon show and she was so loved.
She was quite the ham.
When Marshall McPeek is sick...it's Buck to the rescue!

And with Marshall sick... We decided to get a little creative on the morning show.  He said he felt fine, but just didn't sound great.
Welcome to Fall! Fall officially starts today at 4:21AM. Temperatures will remain near or just above fall-like with highs near 80 most of the extended forecast.  Patchy fog still possible for the mornings with midday sun and a few clouds in the afternoons, especially in Southern and Eastern Ohio. Clouds slowly increasing heading into the weekend.  Have a good one!

Baseball game, Put In Bay, Ironman, GREAT weather coming

So Dawn, Summer, and I went to the Columbus Clippers game on Wednesday.  Such a great time!
Summer stayed with her grandparents this weekend and Dawn and I got our first weekend getaway since she was born.  We went up to Put In Bay for Saturday night.  It was a little damp and cool Saturday, but the sunrise Sunday made up for that.
As mentioned in my last blog... I have been taking family to the airport for my brother competing in the Ironman in Tahoe.  These above pictures are from the start of the 2.4 mile swim and the 112 mile bike ride.
His body was drained by the end of the biking and I was able to talk to him on the phone before work today.  He said his legs were locked into the same position of riding the bike, but he had 26 miles on his feet to finish.  He said he walked most of it because of a huge blister on his foot, but did try to run a few miles.
And it was dark when he came running up to the finish line.
And he is now an Ironman.  My mom was worried he might not finish when she saw him drained between the biking and running.  But Clark is stubborn and he would have to break his leg before he would crawl the rest of the race.  Mad props bro! He finished the 140 miles in just over 15 hours.  Maybe I can try it next year... ;)
Fall officially arriving this week on Wednesday and it will feel like it!  Mostly sunny for Central Ohio for most of the week ahead. A few more clouds across Southeastern Ohio due to a weather system on the East Coast.  Temperatures comfortable the entire week ahead with highs in the 70s. Enjoy and have a good one!

Airport, sun, baseball, Taylor Swift and rain on the way

Summer and I have been to the airport quite a few times the last few days.  This photo is when we dropped off my parents.  Most of the family is going out west for my brother's Ironman competition on Sunday.
Boy, what beautiful days we have had lately!
Dawn, Summer, and I went down to the Clippers game last night.  Great times!
This morning I will be doing LIVE weather from Nationwide Arena ahead of the Taylor Swift concert.  I will be taking the Taylor Swift cardboard cutout with me... stop by and get a pic!
A couple of fantastic warm days ahead with plenty of sun for Thursday and a few more clouds Friday. Highs in the mid 80s.  More clouds Saturday with a cold front bringing a chance of rain. Best chance of rain will be in the afternoon/early evening.   Temps cooler by Sunday and Monday as we cool down to lower 70s for highs. Have a good one!

Yard work and weekend rain

Something about a fresh lawn is so refreshing.  The grass got a lot more green after the recent rain.  I'd rather mow more often and have it green than it turning brown.
Dawn was out with her cousin with the kids, so I read a little after mowing then got some extra sleep.
And boy... what GREAT sleeping weather.  Clear skies at night with cool temperatures.  These temps are ideal for morning lows in my opinion.
Grab the sunglasses! Wall to wall sun for a few days. We continue warming from the upper 70s for Tuesday into the lower 80s for the rest of the workweek.  Keeping an eye on a little weekend rain for late Saturday into Sunday. That will cool our temperatures a little for the start of next week. Have a good one!

First motocamping trip

I have been on mopedcamping trips, but this weekend was my first motocamping trip.  I met up with a bunch of my moped friends at Indiana Lake.  The wind was brutal while riding, but made it safe, chilly, and sound.

Once my tent was set up, it was time to catch up.
We had a gorgeous sunset.
But the photos just do not do the colors justice.  It was a glorious sunset.
We all huddled up very close to the fire to stay warm.  Luckily the winds died down a little bit overnight.
Dawn said that Summer was a handful.  She did not want to fall asleep and this was Summer at 1AM on Saturday night.
I packed up my campsite before sunrise to hit the road.  What a glorious sunrise.  I LOVE riding during the early weekend mornings before traffic picks up.  I made it home before Summer and Dawn were awake.
No need for the umbrella for a while, but sunglasses will be needed instead.  Temperatures will be a little cool to start the week, but with all the sunshine and winds out of the southwest we will continue warming through the week ahead.  Rain looks to hold off until next weekend, so enjoy the final full week of summer. It will be a fantastic week ahead! Have a good one!

Motorcycle work with Summer and MUCH cooler temps coming

Yesterday I prepped for a weekend motocamping trip, but it looks like rain may change the plans a little. Summer hung out in the garage with me and she even tried taking the saddle.  She said she still needs time to work up the nerve to go for a ride.  I AM KIDDING!  But it was nice having her out in the garage to talk with during the work.
A few showers, mainly in Southeastern Ohio for early Thursday then the mostly cloudy skies will clear some heading into the afternoon with a little more sun.  Light winds, mostly clear skies, and a little patchy fog for Thursday night.  Friday will bring more clouds and cold front #2 for the week, which means another shot of rain and much cooler temperatures for the weekend. Highs in the upper 60s for the weekend.  A few light, spotty showers around the area on Saturday, then more sun by later Sunday. Have a good one!

GDC tailgate, Summer's first OSU game & cool temps return

We had one heck of a tailgate on Good Day Columbus yesterday.  So much fun during the 9AM hour.
I hosted a Buckeye School with Buck.  We made crafts and went over some of the traditions.  I then went home and took a 4 hour nap.
Summer and Dawn got back around 7PM and I went through the nursery four times and could NOT find the Ohio State onesie we had.  I know... I know...  We only have ONE?!?!  BUT the smaller sizes are very hard to find and normally picked through at the stores.  So I got creative and grabbed a couple permanent markers.  I also tweeted it to the official Brutus_Buckeye account: (Click to make the image larger)
Gotta love that response!  What a game to watch too!  I got (less than) two hours of sleep and now at work.
It has been a month and a half since we hit 90, but we did it on Monday. Today could be a repeat of yesterday with sun early then a few afternoon clouds and a high of 90, again. An isolated shower or storm popping up in the afternoon cannot be ruled out.  More showers and storms work in overnight and for Wednesday. The rain will be scattered and not likely to be severe, but a few strong storms are possible.  Highs fall back to the mid 80s Wednesday then 70s the rest of the extended forecast as we head into the weekend.

Neighbor Day 2015

Every Labor Day we head to head back to Dawn's parents' house for Neighbor Day.  She had a GREAT group of kids that she grew up with and they still keep in touch.  We grill out all weekend long and fire up the beverage fountain.
Buckeye hung out with us for the bonfire.  He loved the attention.
And Summer loved the one-on-one time with Grandma Mary.  Mainly because Grandma loves giving a Summer a bath so she can get Summer's bath-time smiles.
I had to come back for work today, but I guess Dawn won bowling last night.
Most of us starting off the week dry with only a very slight chance of isolated pop-up rain in the afternoons. However, all of us will start the week hot and humid.  A better chance of rain returns Wednesday into Thursday with a cold front. Highs will cool off back to the 70s by the end of the week. Have a good one!

Looking hot & stormy for Labor Day

I went out to the Anderson Farm on Tuesday and held this little guy.  I smelled a little when I had a meeting back at work later with a consultant... despite changing. ;)
Not sure if I mentioned, but Buckeye turned 14 on Sunday.  Summer and I love spending time with Buckeye.  I don't think he likes all the love because he bolts away from us when he gets an open window.  He likes to keep his distance and be a shadow.
Staying hot and humid with pop-up showers and storms through the rest of the workweek. Some of the cells could have gusty wind and heavy downpours. The best chances for rain will be in the afternoon and early evening.  Slightly drier air works in by Labor Day, but still a slight chance for rain.  So hot, humid, & isolated rain over and over and over and over...
Sound familiar? Have a good one!

Andrew Buck Michael
