Rocks and Roots 50k, DONE! Warmer temps on the way!

I ran the Rocks and Roots 50k and it was a very interesting day...
It started off with sheets of ice, but then turned muddy as we warmed up. It was a long 32 hours...
And I did take a tree to the face once it started getting muddy. I was turning a corner on the trail and my feet went out from under me and tried grabbing on to the tree...
The good news is that it has warmed up enough lately to get outside more often and I have been enjoying going on walks with Evan in the sun. Warmer temps to come!

Make sure to have the coat this morning! Our temps are starting off in the lower 20s and we will see a lot of sun today helping to warm us into the upper 40s, then more clouds later in the day. Light winds out of the southeast. More clouds overnight with a warm front and there is a slight chance for a spotty light shower tonight or early Saturday. Morning lows on Saturday in the upper 30s. We will see early clouds Saturday then more sun with temps soaring into the lower 70s and the first time hitting 70 since Oct. 20, 2021. It will be breezy on Saturday with winds out of the southwest 10-20 mph. More clouds returning Saturday night. Scattered showers Saturday night and Sunday morning. The rain breaks up more later in the day as sunshine tries to come out. We will only drop to around 60 for the morning low Sunday with the scattered rain. A few rumbles of thunder possible, but not anticipating any severe criteria weather. So there will be some opportunities to get out Sunday as well and enjoy some warm temps because after the morning rain the chance of rain is lower for the second half of the day. High around 70 again on Sunday. More heavy rain likely Sunday night and Monday. Right now the chance of severe storms does not look likely, but heavy pockets of rain with a few rumbles of thunder from time to time. The heaviest rain looks to be in the morning on Monday. High temps in the mid 50s on Monday. The rain kicks out to the east Monday night and early Tuesday, but as temps fall Monday night we could see some snow trying to mix in with the rain by Tuesday morning. Right now it looks like we will not see the transition early enough for any accumulation likely. Highs in the mid 40s on Tuesday with decreasing clouds in the afternoon. Partly cloudy on Wednesday and highs in the lower 50s. A few more clouds Thursday with a slight chance for rain and highs in the mid 50s. It does appear that we will turn very cold again by the following weekend so be sure to take advantage of the mild temps this weekend and next week. Have a good one!

Best,
Andrew Buck Michael
