Beautiful Wednesday and storms on the way

Yesterday morning was so cloudy and chilly. By 11AM the sun was out and the clouds were gone. It was a GREAT day for a run.  I pushed Summer for the 7 miles along Griggs Reservoir and the hills kicked my but with the stroller.  Good workout though, right?  She was very talkative the first four miles then got antsy and tried throwing her water bottle out the side and after a few times of picking it up I put it back in the back pouch. I kept her distracted by asking where the planes were as they were coming in for landing. Fun times!
Central Ohio is in the Slight Risk for severe weather later today and tonight, so stay weather aware. Spotty rain showers for the first half of your Thursday then a surge of warm air this afternoon with cloudy skies then storms pick up this evening and overnight. Strong winds, hail, and even the chance of an isolated tornado are possible with the stronger storms.
By daytime Friday most of the severe threat will diminish, but lingering spotty showers with a few rumbles of thunder are possible. Drying out heading into the weekend and staying mild. More rain Monday. Have a good one!

Rolling some green, mild temps

With 1.7" of rain on Sunday at our house I rented a yard roller from Home Depot and rolled the yard a couple of times yesterday.  Good sweat for sure.  Summer kept following along behind me while I was doing it.  It did a decent job... considering it was only $13 for four hours... can't beat that!  Next task... swing set!
Early rain showers then mostly cloudy and mild today. Mostly cloudy tonight and cool. Partly cloudy Wednesday and mild. More rain showers return later Thursday and Friday. Have a good one!

Inukshuk, half marathon breakthrough, more storms coming

Summer and I have been building an inukshuk in the back yard, but she likes to knock them down... then try to rebuild them.
Had a long run on Saturday... 13.1 miles, zero walking or stopping. That’s a first! HUGE physical AND mental breakthrough this morning.
No major damage reported with yesterday's storms, but we did have a few funnel sightings and hail reports.
Patchy early fog as you head out the door for your Monday morning thanks to the Sunday rain. Some early sun with increasing afternoon clouds with scattered showers & storms by the evening and will remain overnight into early Tuesday. There is a marginal risk for severe weather, mainly Southeast Ohio, for gusty winds.
Mostly cloudy and remaining mild Tuesday. A little cooler and partly cloudy Wednesday. More rain showers return later Thursday and Friday. Have a good one!

Long weekend run & warmer temps coming... kinda.

I continue ramping up my long weekend runs and I was up visiting my in-laws this weekend.  Which was good because it is hillier where they live.
A couple of the hills were VERY challenging and it just reaffirmed that I need to do more hill training and I think I found the perfect spot near Griggs Reservoir.
But had a pretty successful run and did it all at race pace.  I will be pacing myself a little slower for the longer weekend runs soon to make sure I am sustaining a consistent pace for the entire long runs.
Yesterday I was out doing LIVE shots in the rain and my dress shoes showed their age because I wore the sole down so much that there were small holes and water was coming through... UH OH!
The rain stopped briefly for me to replant some grass seed where I cut down a tree last fall.  The soil is not as good in that area so I brought over some from the garden.  Nice dark, nutrient rich soil now and still have plenty to spare in the garden.

Cool with patchy fog to start your Tuesday morning. Clouds will clear out some this afternoon with highs reaching the mid 50s. A few more clouds this evening with a cold front and then colder air rushes in tonight with windy conditions and below freezing temps for Wednesday morning. Mostly sunny & cool on Wednesday then building clouds and climbing temps heading into the weekend. A slight chance to see a spotty shower early Friday morning then some scattered storms later Saturday and Sunday with highs back in the 60s. Have a good one!

Wintry week, but spring is only 4 days away!

Summer is always amazed when snow starts falling.  She was talking to the snow earlier this week... but I have NO idea what she was trying to say to the snow.
All bundled up for my afternoon run this week.
But at least the sunshine was out.  I am looking forward to warmer temps for running.
Yesterday I was up at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium to show off the new baby gorilla.
JJ was adorable!  He was trying to put everything in his mouth... typical for a 6 month old.
A cold Thursday morning for Central Ohio, however the winds are lighter than the last couple days and lots of sun on the way for today to help us warm to 40 for the high. Increasing clouds tonight with temps falling back below freezing. Rain moves in for Friday and, with morning temps below freezing, a wintry mix is possible early before we warm up. Spotty sprinkles and flurries possible Friday night into Saturday. More sun Sunday followed by rain on Monday, which is the first day of Spring! Have a good one!

Annual trip to Hocking Hills... SO many changes

You may remember this photo from last year.  Summer was not yet crawling, but we went down to Hocking Hills for a secluded trail and a 100 foot waterfall.  She is still about 40 yards away from the waterfall.  (You can click the images to make them larger)
Well we went back yesterday and there were some changes.  The tree that was next to where she was sitting is gone... or knocked over.  It was one year and one day later.
Here's a better photo of the changes over the last year.  Man... what a year it has been!
We warmed into the low 60s yesterday and it was a fantastic day to explore nature.  I have been trying to spend as much time with her outside as possible because she is very curious and a tad noisy for Dawn working from home.
Wednesday we went for a five mile run... another beautiful day, BUT very windy.  The wind gusts were 49 mph at the airport while we were running.  It was like pushing a sailboat at times, but she was going WHEEEEE most of the time.

Some early morning snow showers and wintry mix then partly cloudy & colder for today. A few lake effect snow showers are possible, mainly to the north, through the day. Clearing tonight and frigid by Saturday morning. A mix of sun and clouds for the weekend and staying cold. Monday a wintry mix moves in late then scattered snow showers on Tuesday. Have a good one!

Weekend run, copycat Summer, rain moving in

Saturday's morning sunrise was amazing! I went out to Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park for my long weekend run on the trails with hills.
Run went well... I was pleased with the time and felt great for the run.  The hills started kicking my butt towards the end.  There was a root that jumped up around the 8th mile and tripped me.  I went FLYING into the dirty and leaves, but jumped right back up, brushed myself off, and kept running.
Saturday afternoon Dawn had to do some work, so Summer wanted to do the same thing. Sunday was relaxing with lots of laundry.
On and off rain for your Monday, so have the rain gear ready to go. Temperatures will stay warm for the start of the week and winds will stay brisk as well. More rain likely early Tuesday with a few storms possible early then showers are possible on and off through the day. Mild temps for the middle of the week then rain likely late Thursday then cooling off heading into the end of the week. Watching the potential for a wintry mix on Saturday. Have a good one!

Crazy week so far...

The warm temps have been great! I have been enjoying the mild temps for my afternoon runs around the neighborhood.  Saturday morning will be cold for my weekly long run.
Yesterday was a VERY active morning for severe weather here in Central Ohio.  We had a couple Tornado Warnings and then more severe storms through the morning.  Made sure to save some of the clips. ;)
Winds were howling overnight, but will lighten a little for today with breezy conditions. A mix of sun & clouds today and chilly. There will be pockets of wintry mix this afternoon and then transitioning over to spotty light snow this evening. Pockets of light snow overnight with accumulations light and generally less than 1". Clouds give way to some afternoon sun on Friday, but staying chilly. Partly cloudy this weekend with chilly temps on Saturday then warming up some on Sunday. Rain returns next week. Have a good one!
