Star Wars marathon with Summer & Thanksgiving Day Forecast

Summer and I are halfway through the Star Wars Marathon.  We watched episodes I, II, & III in order... just to get them done.  Now we started episode IV.  I think we will rewatch IV, V, & VI twice before the new movie comes out the 17th.  She seems to really enjoy it! Star Wars was such a big part of my childhood and I hope to pass along that memory for her.
We have a FANTASTIC day for traveling today.  If you are driving anywhere around the Midwest you will be staying dry and mild.  For Thanksgiving, tomorrow, we will have partly cloudy skies, but highs still near 60.  We stay warm as well for any door-buster sales for Friday morning. Rain arrives midday Friday with a cold front that will bring cooler weather for the weekend.  A slighter chance of rain over the weekend. Have a good one!

One stop shop forecast for the holiday week

Traveling around the Midwest looks pretty good for Wednesday, but the rain gets closer for Thanksgiving, but Columbus will stay dry.  At least until Friday.  Rain showers move in during the late morning and midday on Friday and remain through the rest of the day.

Sunshine trying to work its way in today with a mix of sun and clouds and calm winds. More sun Wednesday and it looks to be a great day for travel around the Midwest. More clouds for Thanksgiving Thursday with partly cloudy skies and breezy conditions, but temps back in the mid to upper 50s. Rain showers return Friday with a cold front. That means our temperatures cool back down for Saturday and Sunday. Another system will bring more rain for Sunday and Monday. Have a good one!

New car & Thanksgiving Day forecast

We had some friends and family visit over the weekend.  Summer is becoming more aware of her surroundings and is a lot more comfortable at home for now with "strangers" to her.
Friday night Dawn and I became "grown-ups" and got our first NEW car.  I have to take it back to get a roof rack, but super excited for a new family vehicle... because we were in desperate need the last month.
Partly cloudy, a few flurries, and chilly to start the week. Expect some morning frost as well followed by a breezy afternoon. More sun for Tuesday and Wednesday as we try to start warming up by Thanksgiving. More clouds by Thanksgiving, but dry and temps in the upper 50s. Rain returns later on Black Friday then we cool back down by the weekend. Have a good one!

Good Thursday Morning!

The early morning crew glazed some pots yesterday for Empty Bowls. I can't wait for the story to air on Good Day Columbus.  The bowls will be auctioned off at the Grand Illumination, December 4th, and the money goes to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank.
I also took advantage of the 71° yesterday. That may be the final ride of the season because a wintry mix is on the way for Columbus.
I also helped out with breaking news earlier this week after a house exploded.  We were the first crew on the scene and showing LIVE picture on TV and on Facebook before the other stations even made it to the scene.  Benefits of being out and about and nearby.
Rain has moved out and now cooler air is pushing in for today.  Temperatures will stay in the mid 50s for today and breezy with sunshine and a few passing clouds through the afternoon.  Temperatures fall to near freezing overnight with mostly clear skies.  Patchy fog is possible as well early Friday.  Friday will be cool and start off with some sun, but clouds arrive later in the day.  A wintry mix is on the way for later Saturday.  It will likely start off as light rain in the afternoon and switch over to flurries Saturday evening. Then becoming even colder for Sunday and Monday morning.  Bundle up and have a good one!

Buck to the Rescue on the farm & get ready for the wind!

My Tuesday Buck To The Rescue assignment took me to a farm in Sunbury.  I helped feed the animals, spread straw, repair the hen's fencing, and put sweaters on the chickens so they stay warm this winter.  Erica said it has helped increase their egg production during the winter.
Check out these winds for today!  You can click on the image to see it larger.
Most of Central Ohio is under a Wind Advisory for today from 7AM until 7PM.
Here is the criteria for a Wind Advisory vs High Wind Warning.
Steady rain already pushed through overnight, but a few isolated showers may still quickly pass through as we go through the day with a front bringing cooler weather.  Winds will pick up around daybreak and reach their peak midday through the afternoon.  Wind speeds between 20-30 mph can be expected with gusts 45 mph or stronger today. Gusts will weaken some overnight, but winds staying 15-25 mph with a little clearing in the skies. Friday morning wind chills will be below freezing. Gusts pick back up Friday with some gusts 35 mph or stronger with a mix of sun and clouds. Winds continue to weaken over the weekend with more sun on the way, but chilly temperatures. Have a good one!

Relaxing weekend, waning moon, & workweek forecast

This weekend is was great to just relax around the house.  We did do a little browsing for a new family car, but other than that... very relaxing weekend.
Which did include a big Sunday breakfast.  Also made more omelet for the mornings to bring into work.
The waning crescent moon was pretty awesome this morning.
A chilly start to your Monday with temperatures dipping just below freezing, so you may have to scrape some frost.  Plenty of sun to start the morning, but clouds move in through the day with rain showers by the evening and will continue on and off overnight.  Rain for early Tuesday then we stay mostly cloudy for the afternoon.  Wednesday starts dry, but more rain by Wednesday night and early Thursday.  We dry out by the end of the week, but stay chilly heading into next weekend.  Have a good one!

Free Hugs, School Talk, Browns, Buck To The Rescue, Cool Down

So this onesie seems to never get small... or we just put it on Summer after birth when it was too big for her.  But look at the change in the last 4.5 months.  She is getting so big... and fussy.  To be expected, I guess.
I had a school talk this week in Lancaster. 225 minds trying to learn some weather facts before lunch arrived.
We had a little fun on the morning show with the Browns - Bengals game.  I knew the Browns would lose, but I kept a slim sliver of hope.
Yesterday's Buck to The Rescue was my favorite yet.  Akila is only 4'7" and I was happy to help with the "tall order" of items she needed help with around the house.
How about this photo of my backyard. I wish it looked like this all the time!
A cold front will be bringing scattered showers and storms for the first half of Friday for Central Ohio. We dry out for the afternoon, but stay windy & mild. Temperatures fall quickly overnight and we stay chilly for the entire weekend. A few clouds Saturday with more sun Sunday. Sunday's morning temperatures near or below freezing. More rain returns for the middle of next week, but staying dry from midday today until then. Have a good one!

Time Travel, Buck To The Rescue, Voting, Warm Temps

So last year to announce Summer on the way we took Buckeye out back and got a photo in front of my favorite tree while it was in full color.  Yesterday we went back there to do another photo with Summer part of it.  Dawn, Summer, & Buckeye look great, but it is a less than flattering photo of me though.  Oh well... that happens when you try taking a selfie with the entire family.
In the morning I was doing Buck To The Rescue and was helping an amputee put up his Christmas lights and I also cleaned the gutters.  If you or anyone you know needs help, PLEASE contact me and I will come out and help.  And it doesn't have to be something as physical.  Even if it is watch the kids for a couple hours while you do whatever, or help make breakfast, or pack lunches.  Whatever!  Seriously, hit me up on Facebook or Twitter!
Summer went with me to vote yesterday, she said she enjoyed the process and felt more like a citizen.  We only disagreed on a few of the issues, just kidding.
Look at these temps on the way today!
A few more days with temperatures well above normal. Our normal high temperatures for early November is the upper 50s, so running ten to fifteen degrees above normal through the end of the week. A cold front on the way on Friday could bring in a few isolated showers Thursday, but a better chance for showers and a few thunderstorms early Friday. Cooler air pushes in quickly for the weekend with highs back in the lower 50s. Mid 30s for lows on Sunday and Monday morning so keep the coats handy! Have a good one!

Fall Color Time Lapse, Election Day Forecast

So I have been taking photos of the tree in the neighbors yard the last couple weeks on every sunny day to show the colors changing.  The tree is a brilliant orange every fall.
Another GREAT day ahead! Plenty of sun today with highs near 70 and light winds.
More of the same Wednesday with a few more afternoon clouds. A cold front arrives Friday with much cooler weather by the weekend.  We could see a little rain ahead of the cold front on Thursday, but a much better chance of rain on Friday. We dry out for the weekend and cool off with highs back in the lower 50s. Have a good one!

Halloween, Kent State Visit, & Indian Summer coming

Summer liked handing out the candy from inside the house at grandma and grandpa's house.
She made a stink eye about handing out the candy from outside last Thursday.
Friday we had a Halloween show on Good Day Columbus.  It was awesome!  We had some fantastic makeup done by Aftershock Art.
Here is a look at our pumpkins lit up.
We had a LOT of rain last week.  We had 2.85" of rain at our house.
Which gave us something to talk about during my school talk at Parsons Elementary last week.
Luckily the rain cleared out in time for me to do Buck To The Rescue in Prospect Ohio.  I helped a lady put away all the patio furniture.  What normally took the homeowner a day to do... We got it done in about an hour.  I love this new campaign and helping people out.
We went up to Kent State over the weekend to visit my sister, Amanda.  It was my first time to the campus and it was really pretty.  She took us around campus and showed us the fashion school.
So was the sunset last night!
This morning we are tracking some dense fog.
Starting off November with temperatures over ten degrees above normal with at least a few days over 70°. Mostly sunny for Monday with a few clouds through the midweek mixing with the sun. Rain returns by Friday with a strong cold front. Our high temps will jump down into the 50s for the weekend, so enjoy the mild temperatures while they are here! Have a good one!

Best,
Andrew Buck Michael
