Video of Summer crawling, storms on the way

I posted the photos yesterday, but figured I would share the video as well.  You can see Summer trying to touch the grass at first and unsure... but then she saw me crawling and decided it was fine to touch the grass.

Central Ohio is in the Marginal Risk for severe storms for later today.  Wind, hail, and even an isolated tornado are possible, but not likely to be widespread for Ohio.

Warm, windy, & wet for Thursday. Today will start off with some steady rain showers through the morning then dry spells midday and for the afternoon. More storms likely in the evening and overnight with a strong cold front and some of the storms may be strong. A few lingering showers possible Friday as cooler air starts to arrive. Have a good one!

Mapfre morning with Frankie Hejduk & crawling Summer

Yesterday was a gorgeous day... I got to hang out at Mapfre Stadium with Frankie Hejduk before the USA vs. Guatemala 2018 World Cup Qualifier match.  (We won 4-0!)
But the morning was a blast! We had a lot of fun in the stands and on the field for my Good Day Columbus feature reporting.
And they even let me paint some of the lines.
When I got home I put Summer down for a nap and cut some lines. First mow of the season.
Then I took Summer outside and got her to crawl around the backyard.  She was unsure about the grass at first, but she got the hang of it. I snapped this photo and absolutely love!
I kept moving farther away and she laughed and kept trying to keep up with me.  The sun felt great, despite temps only being in the mid 50s.
Today will be a great day to get outside before rain arrives with warm temperatures, but it will be windy with gusts up to 30 mph. Winds stay strong tonight and Thursday. Temps stay mild overnight into Thursday. Early sun today with increasing clouds later today and tonight. Rain starts to arrive near daybreak Thursday. Thursday will start off with some steady rain showers through the morning then drying out midday and for the afternoon. More storms likely in the evening with a strong cold front and some of the storms may be strong. A few lingering showers possible Friday as cooler air starts to arrive. Have a good one!

Summer's Easter on the farm, School Shout Out, storms returning

The family Easter was back on the farm on Saturday. Dawn and Summer had a splendid time and it was great to see all of the family.  It was a little hard at times for my grandfather, since this is the first Easter without Grandma Judy.  But we all had a lot of fun and he said he will be visiting us soon.
By the way, holy cow!  The weather was fantastic this weekend!
Last week I shot my next School Shout Out.  I love doing positive stories.  It is set to air next Tuesday.
Temperatures will still feel a little cool today, and chilly this morning, however sunshine will return later today. Clear and chilly tonight with patchy frost possible. Warmer Wednesday afternoon with clouds slowly returning. Rain returns Wednesday night and Thursday with heavy rain possible at times. Temps cool back down for the weekend. Have a good one!

Garden done, Summer helped, Wind Advisory, storms on the way

MAN! It felt good to wrap up this project yesterday.  Between getting the materials and finishing it took me about ten hours to complete.  The longest part of the process was drilling the boards together then all the digging... Speaking of digging...
I removed the old boards and then had to dig around the edges.  The old boards were not braced and the weight of the soil and water caused them to bow out.  So I had to clear a couple inches of dirt around the edge AND a channel across the middle for my crossbar.  The first box I tried piling the dirt in the middle, but there was just WAY too much so I used a sheet of plastic to temporarily house the extra soil.
Summer came out for part of the afternoon and she really enjoyed exploring her playpen.  She was a little fussy at the beginning, but she actually looked like she was loving it after a few minutes.  One reason I did NOT go with treated lumber is the photo above.  I know she would be playing with the boxes and wood so I don't want her getting any of the chemicals.  I know the new treated lumber doesn't use arsenic like before, but no new studies have been done on the new chemicals they use.  (Did a lot of research the last couple weeks before buying the lumber)
I have been running these info-graphics all week and I figured this one was important enough to share.  Flooding continues to be the #1 flooding related fatality.  Most, if not all, of these deaths can be prevented.  Please take severe weather serious.
We have a windy day ahead.  Wind Advisory through the early evening with gusts up to 35 mph.
Then showers and storms for the afternoon and early evening.  Central Ohio is in the Marginal Risk for severe weather today with strong winds being the main threat.
Take the rain gear for later today! Cloudy and windy through the first half of Thursday then showers and storms likely this afternoon and evening. Some of the storms may have some gusty winds. By midnight most of the rain will be leaving and cooler air will start working into Central Ohio. Mostly cloudy, cooler, & breezy for Friday. More sun Saturday with temps bouncing back into the 60s. Dry Easter Sunday then more rain returning late Sunday into early Monday. Have a good one!

New garden beds, tornado drill, storms on the way

Started a new project yesterday.  Thanks to a guy named Zach for helping me transport most of the lumber home.  Turns out, it will NOT all fit in my CR-V. Anyway...
I was able to get all four together yesterday, but I need to put in the crossbars today.  I will then remove the old lumber, dig out the corner posts, then flip these bad boys into place today. So this image is them upside down. Pretty excited to get to gardening!
You may hear tornado sirens today at 9:50AM.  There is a statewide tornado drill for Ohio.
Winds will be staying strong today with mostly cloudy skies and mild temperatures. Some isolated rain may start working in late this evening and overnight, but the best chance of rain will be Thursday with scattered showers and storms likely. Cooler air arrives for Friday with highs in the upper 40s then we bounce back into the 60s for the weekend. Watching the potential for more rain late Sunday into next Monday. Have a good one!

Classic Michael, Red Flag Warning, & Easter forecast

If you know my family, then you know about my parent's business.  They own a window cleaning company.  So as kids, we always could find the family van at the grocery because all we had to do was look for the van with a ladder on top.  Well... I looked like a Michael yesterday when I went to pick up a ladder.  Found a GREAT deal on Craigslist.  The ladder was only used twice and I picked it up for less than half of the retail price.
Red Flag Warning for Southern and Southeastern Ohio today.  This means there is an elevated fire risk so any open flames will spread quickly due to dry conditions and strong winds today.
Get ready for a windy Tuesday! Winds today will be out of the southwest with gusts up to 35 mph. Mostly sunny skies today and the strong winds will push in warm air for highs back in the 60s. More clouds Wednesday and a late-day shower is possible, but more rain expected Thursday. We see a brief dip in temperatures on Friday, then rebound for the weekend. More rain possible later Sunday into Monday. Have a good one!

St. Patrick's Day, hide & seek with Summer, Spring Outlook

It's been a while since I have been on here... Last week was crazy busy because I found out the station was not entering for an Emmy for the Interactivity category.  So I was scrambling to enter that category all by myself with the Social Buzz with Buck.  So I was busy editing 40+ hours of video down to 15 minutes for my entry.  That kept me busy, but I feel pretty good with the final video.  Anyway... here is a picture from St. Patrick's Day of the family.  Summer has been getting better at crawling and we need to baby proof the cabinets this week.
I also forgot to share this photo from my trip down to Hocking Hills.  It was on my good camera and I downloaded the photos over the weekend.  I want to get this image blown up and printed for the house.  See Summer?
My sister, Amanda, came to visit Friday for the start of her spring break.
Speaking of Spring... Here is the Spring Outlook from the Climate Prediction Center.  Looks like above average temperatures and average precipitation.
A mix of sun and clouds and chilly to start the workweek with winds picking up some today and becoming windy Tuesday. Back into the 60s for highs for the middle of the week. More clouds Wednesday and a few late-day showers are possible. More showers and storms are possible Wednesday night and early Thursday. Cooler air will return by Friday. Have a good one!

Summer voting, Spring countdown, and winds picking up!

Summer was popular at the polls again yesterday.  She really wanted my voting sticker.  I told her she had to wait until 2033... that's CRAZY to think about!
We are getting REALLY close to Spring!  I cannot wait!
Wind Advisory for parts of Ohio til 8PM today with wind gusts up to 35mph.
A few early showers and storms for Wednesday morning then partly cloudy for the afternoon. There will be a very small chance for an isolated shower in the afternoon, but most of us staying dry once the morning broken line of showers/storms roll through. Winds will pick up today and stay 15-25mph out of the west and southwest. Cooler air will work in slowly so highs in the low 60s today and then mid 50s Thursday and 40s heading into the weekend. A very small chance for an isolated shower possible Thursday and Friday, although most of Central Ohio will stay dry. Some of the coolest air will be here Sunday and Monday with a few flurries/sprinkles possible. We see warming temperatures by the middle of next week. Have a good one!

Summer continues to learn, motorcycle riding, storms return

Every day there is something new with Summer.  Yesterday she was learning to play peek-a-boo.  I am so blessed to be able to spend so much of the day with her since I work so crazily early.
Forgot to post photos of my first ride of the season.  I forgot to leave something at work...
So I was naturally more than happy to break out the bike to ride back to work.  I want to try to ride to Dayton for the blessing of the bikes that they do every year at UD.  I need to look up when that is this year.
A pretty decent Tuesday on tap for Central Ohio. Mild temps in the upper 60s and rain likely holding off until late tonight. Scattered showers and storms overnight with gusty winds and hail possible. Rain will be leaving early Wednesday as cooler air starts to working and windy as well. A few rain showers possible and continually cooling for St. Patrick's Day and the same goes for Friday and Saturday. Spring arrives Sunday, but a wintry mix will be possible. Have a good one!

Summer crawling back at the farm, Clark in Hawaii, and snow?!

We went back to the family farm on Saturday.  My cousin was having a baby shower so we spent the afternoon on the farm beforehand.
Summer has started crawling!  It is more like an army crawl where she is pulling herself with her hands... but she is getting there!
Meanwhile... Clark has finished heli-skiing in Alaska and in Hawaii now... Makes me wonder why I didn't become an engineer.
Fog with drizzle for early this morning.

Morning fog followed by some afternoon scattered showers/storms. A few rain showers will linger tonight into early Tuesday. Fairly dry for midweek, with just an isolated shower possible with a mix of sun and clouds. Colder air for next weekend including rain transitioning to a wintry mix. Have a good one!

Trip to Hocking Hills with Summer, warm temps return

This photo encompasses so much of yesterday.  Summer was in complete awe yesterday.  The photos do not do justice to the size of the waterfalls... The one behind her, here, is at least one hundred feet tall.  The rock to her left is the size of a car.
We had a little picnic under the first waterfall.  I knew that it would be a beautiful day (we hit 73° for the high for early March... 25° above normal) so I wanted to hit up Hocking Hills before it got busier.
She would let out a scream of joy at every waterfall.  I think we saw about seven.  She normally loves taking a photo but there was so much for her to see that she was getting tired of us stopping to take a photo.  So much fun!
The Lower Falls at Old Man's Cave is one of my favorite waterfalls... I don't know why, but it's so photogenic.
Can't wait to go back!
Another great day to enjoy the warm temperatures, however a little cloudier, especially later in the day. A stray shower is possible later today, but most of Central Ohio will stay dry today. Rain showers arrive tonight and rain will remain in the forecast for Thursday. We cool off a little and dry out Friday, then more rain returns later in the weekend. Have a good one!

Utilities marked, warm morning, warm extended forecast

I called 811 yesterday to have my utilities marked and it only took about 4 hours until someone showed up.  We have been debating re-doing the patio because the bricks have settled and we may make it a little larger.  Kinda depends on how much we want to invest into the project.  The other reason is because I will be replacing the wood on the raised garden beds.  Both projects look generally good to go, but cable (which we don't use) runs under the edge of one of the beds.  At least it isn't the electric.
Temperatures are WARM for a March morning!
Here comes Spring! Temps are expected to top out near 70 today for the first time this year. A mix of sun and clouds today and we stay warm for the entire extended forecast with no temperatures below 50 expected. With the warm gulf air being pushed in... that also means we will see the chance of rain to be pushed in as well. Starting later Wednesday, on and off showers are possible and will remain in the forecast through the weekend. Have a good one!
